I have a whining coming from the front of the engine, what could it be?
I hear it when I'm sitting idle and up to about 10mph, then it stops.

Either bad serpentine belt, bad tensioner or bad idler pulley. Remove the belt and check the pullies on the tensioner and idler pulley if they don't spin freely with no drag they may be bad. The tensioner itself should have less than 1/4 to 1/2 inch of movement when the engine idles. If pullies check OK replace the belt. Napa tensioner and idler pulley are the best for replacement parts. I had to replace both of mine to get rid of the same type noise. Napa belts are made by Gates and work great too.

It could also be the most forgoten part of the
dakotas anatomy

The power stearing pump people just never change
the fluid in them

Why is that some people are fanatical about oil
in the motor, the trans fluid and grease but never
touch the power stearing

I flush mine every 2 years by removing the return
hose leting it idle while someone turns the wheel
all the way back and forth slowly while I pour
in fluid about 10 min and its all flusched
and cleany wenny new

Try turning the wheel when you listen to the
winning and see if the pitch changes when
you hit the end of the traval
