Message: have you checked the fuel pressure while trying to start it? do you have a good spark? how many miles? was there any trouble before or did it just die?
sorry for all of the questions but some history does help.

Message: questions not a problem. checked pressure at rail almost 50lbs and plugs wet with fuel, a little hesitation the week prior but only a couple of times and then it only felt like a momentary misfire, milage 145,000, spark seems good.

Message: If your getting spark and fuel it wouldn't be the splice. The plugs are coming out wet with fuel?
Then it's weak spark or the ignition timing is off somehow.

Message: bobbys, if you can, check the compression and check the position of the rotor with the motor at TDC on the compression stroke on #1 cylinder. i'm thinking it may have jumped time. i think Curly is leading you in the right direction.

Message: I have a 2001 too but I don't have any problems with my truck right now but does the 2001 have the bad splice problem too?
What problems does the bad splice cause and where is the splice located in a 2001 so I can go ahead and fix it now before it causes a problem later?
Any help is appreciated.

Message: The splice problem was an obd1 thing never seen
it on the gen 3 97 up trucks
Pin #3 and #9 1 has power all the time 1 on/off
with key
Be sure your on the compresion stroke TDC on the
damper
Now see where the rotor is should be right near
the cyl line on the dist pickup plate if not than
the chain jumped at 145,000 its very posible
If you have an induction timing light heres another way turn it over and watch the light
any cyl will do
pull fuel pump relay #1 wire drivers side front
and check base timing should be 10 before TDC
if not the crank sensor is mis reading
Battory
cranking volts should not drop below 9.5 10 volts
if so it will not start
The systems while its running will continue to
run down to around 8 volts than die if your alt
goes out
