Message: does anyone else out there have heater problems on their dodge dakota? My dakotas heater works as well as a bag of rocks. Its a 93 year model clubcab. The only way I myself have been able to put heat in it was to reverse the vaccum lines to the indoor outdoor air door so that the heater recycles cab air. And I also use a secondary heater that wire into your battery which is originally made to supplement the car heater to heat up back seats faster. It heats the cab somewhat over a long period time, but not good enough to my standards. Does anyone has a bright idea as what to do to make the original heater work better than I have now?

Message: instead of just replacing the heater core try backflushing it first. heater core clogging has been a documented problem on here and backflushing works most times.

Message: the first owner replaced the heater core with a metal one several years ago and I have back flushed it several times going backward then forward and repeating the process over and over recently. It still didn't fix it. I have pulled the dash out to actually look at the core and I noticed the the airflow coming from the blower motor has to do a 90 degree turn before it gets to it. You think that has something to do with it? Because I also have noticed that I get alot more airflow through the A/C and much less from the heater side. And if it does have something to do with it do you have any ideas in how to fix that?

Message: have you looked at the dash "Slide knob" to make sure it is going 100% all the way to heat?
remove it and check everything
had an older dodge with problems as you described
what i found was even though the knob was all the way to heat it was still not working the cable all the way
i replace the panel (knobs) and cable and
problem solved
