Subject: brakes and rotors IP: Logged
Message: I had to replace calipers, rotors, and pads a little over a year ago. Grease from the caliper bolts had gotten onto the rotors about six months ago and put hard spots on the rotors so i had rotors cut and put new pads on again. This time i was getting very unusual rotor wear. It looked like a rake went over the rotors and it wasn't smooth and shiny like a rotor should be. It was also very groovy and some spots of rust where the pads weren't rubbing. this time i get new rotors and new pads again and guess what, the same thing happening again and now it's making a shimmy in the front end on the steering wheel when i turn to the left without braking. i think cause of uneven wear on rotor and pad possibly and causing the wheel to kind of shake. I put bendix semi metallic pads on and used them everytime i replaced them. I'm starting to think those pads are crap!! I doubt it's the calipers being i replaced them a little over a year ago. And i put a brand new rotor on along with brand new pads. Anyone know about this brand of brake pads? So, i guess now i'm going to cut these rotors and get another brand pad. The bendix were around $55 and i don't want something cheap that's gonna squeel or wear out after 6 months. I also can't affor to spend $75 or more on brake pads. Any advice on a brand would be greatly appreciated!

Message: Hey man, I know a lot of people didn't like bendix pads pads for
several reasons there. It doesn't sound like pads are your only
problem, could be several things going on there. But if you're
looking for a really good pad at around the same price, try some
Wagners. They ought to do better.
