 Subject: Random Rough Idle.

I have been having a random issue to where sometimes when im idling the truck will start running rough and when i hit the gas it doesnt wanna go. I have replaced the IACV, tps, cap, rotor, plugs and wires. Had the fuel system flushed but no luck. Just wondering if anybody else is having this problem. It never happens when im on the highway. 2000 Dakota 3.9 106000 miles.

No codes at all, diagnostic test shows everything is fine, as far as pepboys can tell.

I wanna try to get a code myself, do you really just press down the mileage reset nob and hold the key in the on position at same time?

no, just turn the key on/off/on/off/on and the codes will display in the odometer as PXXXX and when it's finished it will display Pdone. and that is "on" and not "start".

No codes came up, this sucks. I was told by some people at work that its either my fuel pump or my fuel relay. Can fuel relays short out from time to time? It happened again today and when I gave it gas it just started backfiring and barely moved. I just have to wait till it stops shaking.

Hi there..I'm having the same exact problem with my 2001 Dakota 3.9 auto too....I changed the dist.cap and wires and then today my mechanic changed the electronic "pick-up" under the Distributor Cap..still no improvement! He put the fuel system under pressure test and pressure was good...Any other suggestions? Thanks for any help...

Back fireing
The dist pickup all it does is tell the injectors
when to fire
It sounds more like an ignition drop
coil, crank sensor
