Larry, daddio, Kowolski?
I'm sure one of you guys have changed the bushings at some point. What do I need to pull the old one out? The drive gear also, Do I need any specialty tools or just the standard tool box is going to get this done?
Thanks in advance

Message: Curly, i have yet to change the distributor bushing. let me see if i can dig something up in a FSM on this procedure. The distributor drive gear should be as easy as removing a pin with a small punch and installing a new gear with a new drive pin. i'll post back if i get some answers for you.
as for my shadow's post above. you don't get sucked away by a hurricane. you get BLOWN away.

Message: curly, never got your email. there are a couple of special tools needed per the FSM. maybe someone whose done this procedure before has another way. either way, you'll of course, have to pull the distributor and the intake manifold.

Message: What you need is a slide hammer and the corect
end to catch the bottom of the bushing and pull
it out
The tool mopar uses is similer to a cam bearing
instal tool and than just tap it in
Its a .001 press fit
The oil pump drive and dist gear are all 1 peice
they do come out rather hard from the tarnish that
builds up on the shaft
Get a hardened drive the dist gear just a small
roll pin punch

Message: If you want to replace the oil drive melling
and milodon both make hardened shafts around
$30
What I do also is when you have the gear off the
dist pull the shaft out and use some moly grease
on the shaft just a light coat
I have only run into a few trucks were the
bushing was wore usualy comes from not changing
the oil it gets some sludge built up around
the bottom under the gear and it just gets no
lubrication to the bushing I have never seen
one brake, The 302 fords I seen a few shafts
brake never in a mopar
