Message: I started running full synthetic in my 98 about 3 oil changes ago. on the last oil change when I pulled the oil filter off there was no oil dripping from it and it was heavy and solid. im guessing it had a ton of sludge in it and after I changed the oil my engine ran better again. This kinda worried me that there was no oil leaking on my hand when I pulled the filter, I wish I would have cut it in half to take a peak what was inside. Anyone else have this happen before?? I got about 2000 miles on this oil and it's starting to act slugish again. Should I do an engine flush? I've heard of using a quart of trans fluid in place of a quart of oil and run it for about 10 minutes then change the oil and filter again. I've also heard of seafoam. what works better? and any other suggestions are welcome! Its been a while since I been on this site and I always (well, almost) get great feedback in the past! I'll have to keep this page in mind again, missed out on a lot of info. thanks guys

It sounds to me like your oil is doing its job. Try adding a small amount of what ever you like (seafoam, risolene, gumout) I'd say 1/3 to 50% of what is recommended. You want to clean it slow and gradual, Otherwise you could end up with some major headaches.

Auto RX is what I have used in my engines and it seems to work excellent. When I first put it in my 93 3.9, over time, the oil pressure slowly went down because the filter was becoming clogged. One day, I noticed the oil pressure was higher than it had ever been. Apparently, so much crud had come out of the engine and deposited in the filter that it finally went into bypass mode. It really cleaned my engine out!

Message: My engine must be in bypass mode too cause the oil pressure is below 40 when I'm idling but when I'm driving it rises well over 40. guess I should do another change sooner then 5000 miles huh? well, thanks for the info guys, at least I know whats goin on now.

Sounds normal for a 3.9

Message: im wasnt lookin at the gauge as i was typing but it was pretty low, not in a danger zone but lower then usual. the point i was making is the huge climb in pressure, which was definetly not normal, but now I know the engine went into bypass mode and thats why when I changed my filter last time it didnt leak all over like it usually would.
