Need a new engine. My 94 mag v6 is broke bad. What other year mags will fit? How about an '01 with 50k miles. What do you think of Jasper engines? Not interested in v8 upgrade..kid's 1st car.

Thanks,

any year mag engine should drop right in. if you have access to that '01 engine it sounds like a good deal. have you tried www.car-part.com?

or he could swap the EGR stuff to the '01 and wouldn't have to worry about the PCM or anything else. EGR will not hurt performance unless it is malfunctioning. the '94 thru '03 3.9's were all rated at the same 175hp.

You will need to change intake and pass side
exhaust manifold and run the egr

other than that the motors are identical

or have a constant check engine light 32 egr

You can also bolt your multiport heads and intake
to any 88 up 3.9

some 96 to 98 still have the egr provisions in
the intake with a plate over the hole but the
exhaust manifold must be changed for the egr tube

Thanks for all the tips. Your advise several weeks ago about distributer & pick up plate timing helped me determine the engine had jumped time. The tuffy mechanic had suspected that but didn't tell me until he pulled all plugs and checked compression. While cranking it the the engine locked up. When he pulled the intake for the engine swap almost all the pushrods were bent. So I guess this is an "interference" engine. Ended up getting a clean '02 engine w/ 55,000 miles. Thanks
