 Subject: Mounting 2bbl on Magnum manifold?

I want to replace my tired pre-mag in my 87 LE with a Magnum V6, but I want to keep a carb setup out of simplicity. Is it possible to mount a 2bbl on the Magnum manifold?
Someone mentioned that with some drilling and tapping, the pre-mag int mani would fit the Magnum heads, but I would rather avoid any unnecessary drilling and tapping of the heads.
I have one other question. Has anyone see and or done a flow bench test on their pre-mag and or Magnum intake manifold? I would like to take into consideration the better flowing setup aswell.

Joel, that's an interesting question, I do believe that you could redrill or make an adapter to mount your carb to it.
I have an 88 and mine uses the throttle body fuel injection just 2 injectors like a carb, but with better driveability when cold, and probably better when up to operating temp.
If you do use a carb, I think it would be best to remove the injectors and plug the holes rather than leveing them in.

having the heads drilled would probably be the best option. i know a guy that did that to a V8 to use a premag edelbrock intake. other than that, there is a rare 4bbl carb intake manifold for a mag V6 floating around. i've seen a couple for sale on different boards over the past eight years.

I doubt that the magnum intake manifold would work very well, if at all, with a carb. It was designed to flow air and not an air/fuel mixture.

What you need to do is also use the pre mag heads
And change the rocker arms to a 1.6 shaft setup
you use the same shaft system and just replace the
1.5 ratio with the 1.6 shaft mount rockers
Than you can use either a 350 or 500 cfm holley 2bl
Another way is to tap all the injector bungs and
plug them and than you will need to make an
adapter plate to run the holley also what we were
doing in these setups was to use the elect dist
and box from a 1970 up
The mag intake runs very well with a carb on top
we have done a few of these off the wall setups
and they all worked out great
As far as bolting the mag intake onto an older
pre mag NO it will not work
Basicly in this situation you get a carb and
change the dist we have also used the old point
dist's to run a MSD box when you do this there
is no load on the points and they last forever
all they do is switch ground off for the MSD box
and timing can be adjusted by turning the dist
and you can also change the mech advance springs
to tweak your timing curv what we usualy did was
just take the heavy spring out and just run the
lighter spring and the mech advance begains to
come in around 1600rpm
Do a little experimenting all the most of the
older V6 and 318 parts bolt right on
