Subject: Can't lock out OD

I've been experiencing some random problems with my transmission over the last year. Over the winter, when I'd drive to work on the really cold days ( 10 below zero ), I'd have no OD. Once I got done with work and drove home, I'd have OD. I drive 25 miles one way, and would not get OD the whole way into work...strange.

Now I can't get the OD to disengage for towing via the button on the shifter.

The truck shifts nicely otherwise, except on occasion it'll jump out of gear under heavy acceleration...something it hasn't done it quite a while.

After reading a few posts about other tranny issues and suggestions, I'm wondering if I've got a solenoid issue in the valve body, or a sensor. I need to do a filter/fluid change anyway, so I have reason to go mucking around in the valve body. Nothing I'm afraid to do. I'd love some advice as to what to look at as the culrpit.

Also, since I've had this truck, I have no reverse lights...if that matters any. It's a 97, and it's always been a bit of a pain to get in and out of OD with the button. I'd like to fix this before it becomes a problem again this winter.
