Subject: PCV on Homebrew Intake
IP: Logged

Message:
I'm building a homebrew intake this weekend for my '94 Dak. One question that's been buggin me is what to do with the PCV valve and hose. Where should I position it. Right now, the vented gasses pass back through the filter before they go back into the engine (old style round filter and airbox on top of engine). It doesn't look like there is anyway to position it before the filter on the new intake. Is it ok to flow the gasses unfiltered back into the engine? How is this handled on newer style Daks with the external airbox and small airhat?

Cheers,
DC

I have a 95 Dakota, with the 5.2L, and I believe the PCV connects into the manifold, not the air filter system.

I know what you are talking about, the big round air filter. There is only one other connection and that is the air breather.

I have an airhat from a 1999 Dakota, and on the airhat there is a connection at the back, which is for the air breather.

on the newer daks, the PCV intake is built into the breather hat. there's a plug where the hose fits in. the hose doesn't come in before the filter, its after it.

hope this helps. i've probably got pictures on my website.
