Message: there were quite a few ratios available that year as others. for your application try looking on the inside of the glove box lid. there is a sticker there that will have the exact ratio and type of rear diff in your specific truck.

Message: 3.55 is a crappy gear. All trucks should of had 3.92 with 4.10 as the option.

Message: harry from ct, the size of the "pumpkin" does not determine what gears you can install. 8.25 & 9.25 can both have 3.55:1. 3.92, 4.10, etc.....
by the way i thought a 2x4 was a piece of lumber. i believe you meant to type 4x2.

what about a 2x6 a 4x4 a 6x6 HUM
LOL
All daks except the RT's had a 8.25 std ratio
starting in 92 was a 3.55 3.91 was the trailer tow
package or an option the 4.10 was an option in
all the daks
The 3.91 will only raise the rpm a few hundred
and depending how and where you drive can actualy
help gas mileage
On a straight flat high way there is vertualy no
diff in gas mileage between the 3.55 and 3.91
I have 318's with the 9.25 3.92 getting 22 23mpg
8.25 rear its 3.91
9.25 its 3.92
The pre mags gen 1 trucks std was a 3.21
