 Subject: Truck does not idol

Every now and again my truck will not return to an idol, when it is
in gear it will hold about a 1000 rpm and if i put it in N i will rev up
to about 1500. until i touch the trottle than it returns to normal.
what could be causing this i am stumped and have been trying to
diagnose this problem for some time now. i have replaced the idol
motor and checked the throttle position sensor thanks for all your
help

idol = object of worship.
idle = what your engine should do when you take your foot off the gas pedal (not petal; not peddle).

Ya i know i cant spell and already kicked! but what could cause that problem? could the map sensor be going out? its a stock v8 tb and i know its closing all the way. sorry again for the poor spelling i just need help with the truck nit my english... Thanks

try checking your throttle cable to see if it has and broken strands that could be getting hung up and holding the throttle open, it may be a long shot, but I have seen it happen before.

that seem all of a sudden to appear quite frequent
