Message: Hi guys I have a 2003 4WD Dakota with the 3.9 .... 2 weeks ago I was cruisin around and turck was running perfect I park for 2 hours .... when I turned it on check engine light came on and the truck started in 3rd gear (now I have to do it manually to start at least in 2nd then change to "D") after hittin 20-25 it goes great but I know It's got to be fixed .
I took it to an scan shop and it shows governor pressure sensor voltage too high ... Please tell me what to do before I spend money on highly expensive useless reapair....

Message: Its going to cost you around $250 to fix
New pressure sensor and sol $200 chrysler
Filter kit $15
6 Qts +4 vavoline fluid from carquest
You need to drop the trans pan have the new
sensors there so you do not take of the O/D &
lockup sols
replace them carful with the gaskets they do not
come with new ones reuse the old ones if you brake
them you will have to order they do not stock them
Replace them, new filter, kit comes with new pan
gasket pan bolts 7 foot pounds 84 inch do not over
tighten the bolts or it will leak
Auto zone has the big plastic dran pans for around
$6
Put 4 qts in start and have on level ground now
just get it into the safe are on the dip stick
drive it 25 miles so it is good and hot now check
while idleing and top off
Do not fill to full when cold the fluid expands
a lot and if you over fill it will cause foaming
and cavitation not good
You do not need to drop the valve body to replace
the sensor and sol
filter bolts and sols 35 inch pounds
Or gett the parts and take it to a good auto
repair, its about 1 hour labor to have someone
put them in
Do not let the shop trouble shoot it just get the
parts and tell them to put them in or they will
try to say you need a new or rebuilt trans and
you do not need a $2000 trans job
Best if you can do it yourself or find a friend
with some auto exp to help you change them
Have lots of rags ready its a messy job there is
no drain plug so you must take out all but a few
bolts than slowly tip the pan one way and hit the
drain pan no mater what you do its a messy job
Don't use any cheap walmart or dextron fluid
Amsoil
Redline or
+4
ONLY
