Subject: Hey Larry IP: Logged
Message: Today I was driving around and felt the need to " mash on it" my truck is runnig really good. However, it feels like something on the chasis is loose. It almost felt like the truck wiggled when I first hammered on it. I looked around underneath and didn't find anything loose. The rear swaybar, shocks,etc.. I did notice the shackles are very rusted out looking.
Any clue on what I should be looking for? Or do you think that the shackles could cause this?
It's a '00 sport
Thanks...........

Message: No the tires didn't brake loose, I would have understood the "wiggle" if that were the case. I wish that I could better explain the feeling. It was different than when tires break loose. I checked the motor mounts.I didn't get under the truck to check the trans mount. The shackles on the rear leaf springs are extremely rusty. looks like just layers and layers of flaking metal. I wondering if that could be the cause, bad shakles. It's only a '00 I don't have anything rusting out on the truck that looks anything like the rusty shakles.
Any thoughts?????
Thanks ........

Message: The spring bushings do go bad take a big screw
driver or bar and pry them around to check they
will move a little but should not be lose
I like to replace them with polyuritahain type
they are stiffer and will help handling
energysuspension.com they have kits for the
G3 97 and up for the G2 you will need to mesure
them unles they now list them
Also check motor mounts by putting a short 2x4
against the exhaust manifold than pry up they will
move slightly but if brokr the motor will pop up
easy test both sides
Now this is the one we most replace the trans
mount there is just one on the crosmember just
put a 2x4 on the tail shaft use a little jack and
see if it moves up or side to side do not force
hard if bad a halfway strong guy can just lift it
up with his 2 arms these are commonn to fail
The torsional twist lifting the motor or the trans
moving will make the truck seam like it wiggles
under hard excelleration
You can also get poly motor and trans mounts they
are not listed just mesure size and bolt pattern
and they will find one that will work or one
nice thing energy suspension will make custom
mounts for any application for about $15 more
than one they have on the shelf this takes about
30 days
I would think by now they would have them listed
or give them a call great guys to deal with I
have had many custom mounts made for engine
swaps
