 Subject: 97 Bed Removal

I need to check and possibly replace the fuel pump in my 97 Dakota Ext-Cab V6. I have seen many comments that removing the bed assembly is easier than draining and dropping the fuel tank. Any input from those who have done a bed removal or fuel tank removal?

all the lights have plugs in the harness
unplug them all
remove the tail gate
8 bolts hold the bed down
