Subject: Only starts in neutral IP: Logged
Message: Got a 1992 automatic 3.9 V6 two days ago. It is in very good condition for its age. One problem is it rarely starts up in park, I have to put it in neutral. It says the parking brake is on, which I almost always put on, but when I release it the warning light still comes on. It doesn't bother me shifting into neutral but I want to know if it is cheaply fixable.

neutral safety switch is bad.
Cheap to fix.
Switch is on L side of tranny, has 3 wires to it
IIRC. Might cost a whole $15.
Enjoy your new 92!
