Subject: Error codes and symptoms IP: Logged
Message: Hopefully JJ will come along and help but until he does :
95 dak started cutting off on me when I push the clutch in. Going down the road (hwy) the truck runs great. It's only when I have to push the clutch in and let it idle down that it cuts off.
Sometimes it cuts off, sometimes it doesn't. But it's becoming more frequent.....so here I am. Following are the error codes :
12 <yeah, I know>
53
42
33
32
55 <yeah, I know>
I am not a mechanic, but AM VERY Mechanicaly inclined. I would like to start with the least expensive things and work my way up. However, going by the book...I believe I may have nailed it down to the EGR/solenoid?
One other thing...if I am real easy and use the clutch/gears in place of the brakes to slow down most of the time I can get it to stay running.
It always restarts. No problems there. HELP!!!

Message: With all those unrelated codes, it's more likely that you have:
1) a bad battery or terminal connections
2) a bad ground elsewhere underhood
3) bad power splice to computer.

Message: First before anything make sure your batt cables
are clean and in good shape you are losing power
somewhere here read on
53
42
33
32
53-An internal PCM failure or PCM communications
failure has been detected.
As Bob said a bad connection or splice on the 95
about a foot back from the power dist box under
hood there is a red wire spliced to 3 other
wires in the harnas that is famious for going
bad you must undo harnas cover remove splice and
solder these wirs togather
pin 3 and pin 9 1 has power all the time 1 on off
with key but if it only does it while moving
rather hard to diagnose
42-Open or short in the ASD relay wiring or
connectors.
swap this relay in power dist box with any of the
other relays in box all same 30 amp relays and see
if this solves the problem than get a new on
switch back and put the new one in the asd spot
This could also be a bad connection or splice
33- Short or open in the AC clutch circuit.
another bad relay posible here but should not
cause stalling when swaping relays don't use
this one
32- is the EGR checker auto parts america has
the nehoff brand for under $100 the factory
replacement $150 to $200 you must replace both
valve and transducer and this could also cause
stalling and very much effect mileage
I would also just inspect the clutch pedal inside
and all the trans linkage to see if any wires
are being hit durang movement like under the dash
But I think Bob hit it on the head with a bad
splice
I would check that splice I mentioned above this
losing power intermitantly will also trip
the ASD code
First thing is check all the grounds comp to
engine ground is located right behind the alt
on the intake manifold on the stud with the
bracket arm on it and the engine to body strap
rear of motor to body these like to caroad away
in salty areas check these first than move on
There ya go start checking all these start with
the easy ones first you must remember the comp
controled vehicles switch grounds on and off
unlike the older vehicles which switched power
on off so a bad ground will severly effect the
operation of all systems
