Message: Ok, I have a question. I have been Poking around DD.com for some time. I Have noticed a growing trend. I cant quite put my finger on where it started.
There Seems to be alot of people that are down greding thiemselvs and there Daks. I am Truly Happy with my 2000 CC Sport 2wd V6 5spd.
People need to stop putting down what they drive, I got a V6 cause thats what i wanted at the time, granted i would like more power but, i am going to work with what i got. LI Blackdak, If you want speed, why did you get a 4x4, why not a 2wd. there are other people on here that love there v6, Just cause you made the wrong choice, dont blame us if you keep getting burned. 4x4s are made for off road fun, I treat my 2wd like a 4x4 and i garentee you i can get through more Sh!t than most 4x4, not cause im lighter cause i know how to drive. I am no bagging on you LI Blackdak, you are just the more prevelent one who complains.
Like i was saying, i have a 2wd, I am mostly stock, little preformance mods, more ext mods so far. I Beat the crap outta other Daks, Rangers and s-10's, not cause they suck, but cause i know how to drive.
To all who acculy red this Sorry for it being so long. I am just tired of all the Bickering and complaining, about there "Slow/Stupid/../../etc, you get the point. Enjoy what you have and make the most of it.
Eddie

Message: I must admit that I was a little disappointed with the gas milage of the V-6 at first. Even with all the mods I have done to the truck, autolite plugs, 180 t-stat and a better cold air intake, I still only get 13 mpg. But after taking it out and getting my truck "dirty" mud bogging it, I will admit that was fun.
What made it even more fun was dragging this happy ass Chevy Z71 out of a nasty ass mud hole that my truck had no problems going through.
Needless to say I was impressed with how well it did. I love my truck. I just quit griping about the lousy 13 miles to the gallon I get with it.

Message: Well i did get a v6 and mine is a 4x4 although its a standard.... i use the 4x4 for mud and ice not much for offroading... im not complaining though i love the truck. Im happy with the performance (for now =] ) and will probably keep the truck for a good long time... and i dont see the 4x4 as being that much slower... maybe i should go test drive a 2wd =] DAK RULES! wheeee

Message: I love my truck. Its my second Dak.. I had a GenII V6 and now a GenIII V6 5-speed. I love the challenge of making it fast and more efficient. I am eagerly awaiting having more time so that I can tear into the engine and replace the belly pan gasket and the valve cover gaskets. I love working on it! It never complains or gets mad at me...unlike my g/f!:) Hahaha, im sure yall feel the same way too!

Message: I love my V6, although a V8 -would- have been nice. At the time though, I specifically wanted the V6 (figured insurance would be cheaper), and to be honest, finding a V8 5-speed with very little options (it's a truck, why do I need power windows and leather?) was going to be difficult! So I got me a V6...
No worries at all when I told them to get me my truck, having never test drove it. I -did- test drive an extended cab V6 automatic SLT though, and both me and my dad were pretty impressed with it, both turning handling and the fact that it had enough umph that traffic merging wasn't hard.
The 5-speed gave me some extra gear ratios to play with. :0) I've done all sort of stuff with my truck. It hauled something like 18 hay bails in the bed, we pulled a 50' log with it, hauled an S10 out of the ditch in the middle of winter on an ice-coated road, hauled my dad's John Deer Model A tractor out of the mud, pulled the large single axle U-haul from Michigan to Florida at 80-85mph with no complaints.
Is it the fastest truck on the road? No. But I've been accused of rebadging a V8 to a V6 twice that I know of. Probally my favoriet comment was few days ago, piled 2 other 6' guys in the truck (tight fit) and took off to Best Buy. On the way there, I had to cut across 3 lanes of traffic and merge, so I hammered it. In the words of Tim, the guy by the door, "D@mn this thing is fast!"

Message: I have a 92, 3.9L, auto. I have had it for 6 months and I havn't had too many complaints with it. I would like a V8 but I don't do much hauling, I would probably be needing tires a lot sooner, and I barely make enough money to pay for gas now. My only grip is I wish it had a 5 speed, other than that I love it. It has been a good truck around the farm, I only got it stuck once. My dad has a funture repair business and he has to use it a lot to haul funture. Because no matter how good of gas milege it gets a honda accord can't haul a couch.
If your truck is too slow it's your fault, do something about it.

Message: I have seen Honda Accords haul a couch. On the roof of the car. Strapped with bunji cords. Pulled over on the side of the road by a police officer who I am sure wasn't thriled that this leather sofa wasn't secured quite as well as it should have been. College Students....what can you say.
ps-before you college students hammer me, I have to tell you that I live close to the University of Notre Dame and I have seen tons of $hit that would make the average person say to themselves....WTF????

Message: I believe you! When I had my Nissan Micra, it managed to haul, among other things... a sink and toilet, a beer keg, various and assorted furniture and on one occasion - my boss and 4 inebriated co-workers jammed in with a saddle, two bridles and an entire racing harness. :) Nothing on the roof tho.

Message: A first I was a little dissapointed with the gas mileage of the 1999 Dakota CC 4x4 V6 that I bought last month, but with some pointers from this site and Speedtweaks I went from 16 miles per CDN gallon to 22 miles per CDN gallon on highway.
I drive with tailgate down on long trips now when empty.
I Cleaned the throttle body and TPS sensors.
I replaced sparkplugs with Champions cross referenced from Autolite 3923 .Autolites are hard to find here and too small an order to do via Speedtweaks this time.( I read on BMW speed site where they also were very impressed with Autolites 3923 or same in Champions, where they replaced the poor performing stock platinum plgs $$ in their BMW's and got good improvements. Sometimes simple is best eh !!!!
Anyway eventually I will do other air filter and exhaust. But this is fun !! I had it deep in mud and snow this weekend for first time and handled just as well as my previous Jeep Cherokee

Message: I wouldn't mind a V8, but at this time it's not really practical/important for me. I use to drive a tin can '97 Geo Prizm. My Dakota has revived my manhood. Even if it is a V6. Now the fun part is to make it as fast and efficient as I can. It'll never be a V8, but I can live with that. When I can't I'll upgrade.
