Message: i replaced this dam seal a year ago and have discovered it is leaking again. Looks like a slow leak and coming from around the flange. last time it was leaking around the pinion shaft and spraying oil all over the gas tank and bed. Is this going to be an ongoing job with these trucks? Might i have done something wrong when i did the job? I didn't use anykind of sealant when i put the new one in because it had a bead of some kind of sealant on it from factory. when i tightened the pinion nut i only gave it 2 quick zaps with the impact gun and lined it back up with the old mark from before i took it off. It sucks because now i've got to do it again and buy the seal plus 2qts of diff. fluid and the additive. does this have to be mopar stuff or can i get some gear oil & additive at advance auto or similar? Mopar is very expensive with their tranny fluids and diff. fluids.

Message: If you really want to make sure you dont have to fix it again get a new crush sleeve with that seal and ditch the impact for a decent torque wrench. That will keep the pinion tight and in correct alignment and prevent it from damaging the seal

Not at all if the job was done correctly.
"Might i have done something wrong when i did the job?"
Definitely, when you picked up that impact wrench to adjust something that should have taken an inch/lbs torque wrench.
