This is from a TSB on a 93 Ram and it is seems to be exactly the problem I have on my Dakota. Anyone had the same problem or have any suggestions.
Symptom/Condition:
Some vehicles may exhibit a shudder evident with medium to heavy throttle which will be present through the 1-2 shift. Some 131 inch wheelbase vehicles may also exhibit a drive line vibration under load. If either condition is encountered, perform the repair procedure.
Repair Procedure:
This bulletin involves adding a spacer to lower the center propeller bearing on the 149 inch wheel base vehicles and adjusting the pinion angle of the rear axle.
NOTE: THE 149 INCH WHEEL BASE VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH A TWO PIECE PROPELLER SHAFT. THIS VEHICLE REQUIRES A 1/2 INCH SPACER TO LOWER THE CENTER SUPPORT BEARING. THE 131 INCH WHEEL BASE VEHICLE ONLY REQUIRES ADJUSTMENT TO THE PINION ANGLE.

Message: I had the same problem with a Ford van, it turned out to be someone changed the rear end and thought it should be straight with the drive shaft. Wrong, it needs to be slightly off set, just like at the transmission. Form the info you found it sounds to me like you probably found the answer you were looking for.
Good Luck
