Subject: 92 V6 4x4 Vapour locking? IP: Logged
Message: Hey guys, my '92 V6 4x4 is starting to act up when the engine has run for a while. After stopping for a bit, it has a hard time starting. Mostly sputtering and really can't hold an idle. Tapping the throttle does nothing.
Leave it for a few minutes with the hood up. When it cools for 15mins or so, it starts right up and runs just fine. Vapour locking?
The Chilton manual suggest looking for clogged fuel tank vent lines. Any other places to look?
With the weather warming up, this is happening more often and is a royal pain. Also, I worry that it might crap out while driving during the summer with the AC on.
Any help would be appreciated...
Jerry
PS the truck runs really well otherwise.

Message: Check to make sure the gas cap vent holes aren't clogged. Seen that before.

Run a piece of wire into the hole?

Message: I think that's supposed to be a closed system and shouldn't have a vented cap, unless it is suppose to let air in and not let fumes out. Then in that case I agree replace the cap and see what happens.
Good Luck
