Subject: Clunking in rear?
IP: Logged

Message:
ive noticed recently that when im in reverse and depress the clutch or when shiftin 1st to 2nd i get a semi loud clunk that feels like its coming from the rear, but sounds like more the front. i just had to replace the rear when it exploded on me at 59,000 mi. with a junkyard rear with 30,000. ive heard anything from crankwalk to bad tranny mounts to a bad throwout bearing. it doesnt affect the driving but its obviously not going to stay that way. can i get some ideas???? its an 01 2x4

A 2x4 is a piece of wood. If your refering to a 4x2 then it might be your u-joints. they are cheap to replace.

I agree with jayb, check the U-joints, they could cause the sound you are describing, check the front and rear.
Good Luck
