Message: is there any logical reason my truck would get worse highway mileage than city? driving my normal route weekly i get 22 mpg.Recently i drove it down to toledo on I-75 with the cruise set at 70 and was only getting about 14 mpg.I got about 17 in toledo.I have a 99 3.9 liter 5 speed 4x4, 3.55 gears.this baffles me, and I just figured i would see if anyone has any ideas.

Message: Sounds like an dramatic change 22 to 14 than 17 was this check in winter driving ? these trucks are common to thermostat that may appear to open at temp on dash but if you have a scan tool that will read engine temp not your IAT temp. Ive come across some of them after a drive the temp drops in thinking truck is either falling out of closed loop or being cooler temperature to add more fuel to injectors, lot of blame to the 02(s) yes the case if there fixed or lazy switching lean to rich. Also other factors have you recently starting driving this commute daily as you said or change route some? extra weight, tire pressure, alignment, extra girlfreind LOL... list go on back to basics last tuneup done and those pesky mods. if you did any which dont amount to anything then enhanced acceleration no mods will give you mileage improvement your only fooling the PCM in the long haul
