could be the cat I have had stalling backfiring problem also on my 96 v6. when i drilled 2 3/8 holes in pipe right before cat it stopped for a while and power was restored.but something is causing it to dump fuel into exhaust which caused the cat to melt down which caused back pressure. i have replaced almost all ignition parts and it goes through o2 sensors in about 6 months or less. a buddy says it is all caused by a bad pcm. anyone know where to get a decent quality pcm ? mopar doesnt make em any more for my truck. Pep Boy says on nat. b.o.
