Message: I need lug nuts for my 2002 dakota. Holy sh$t man they are expensive from the dealer!! I found all kinds of sites for lug nuts but i'm not sure i understand how they are measuring the lugs. I understand the length of the lug, and I think the millimeter measurement is the stud width (dakota is 12mm i think), but then they have lugs they call 1/2" but yet the measurement for the nut(socket size) doesn't reflect anything to do with the 1/2". what is this 1/2" refering to? No way am i paying $7 a lug from the dealer just to make sure i have the right one. I need 8 of them as the crappy covers have fallen off and look like crap!!

Message: They are referring to inside diamater and the thread pitch. You'll need a thread gauge to measure the internal pitch.

Message: I feel your pain..My truck sometimes loses the covers also when the lug nuts are removed.
The dealer here charges about $7.00 each for new lug nuts. Maybe try a junk yard.I got about a dozen lug nuts for $5.00 from the junk yard the other day. It was a "you pull it" type yard and I just happened to find them inside a wrecked Durango.

Message: I've used lug nuts just like those on my Durango. I would recommend you stay away from these. These lug nuts don't have a large enough contact surface with the depression in the wheel. Look at your existing lug nuts and find ones that have a flange similar to what the OEM one's have. Otherwise there isn't enough contact area to secure the wheel without 200 ft/lbs of TQ.
The tire shop I use has very similar (to OEM) lug nuts and that is what I used that last time I rotated the tires. He charged me $1 a piece...

Message: Those look like what I have on my Durango. The conical seat is a little smaller than the OEM seat, but it's safe to use. I was concerned about the safety of the first replacement lugnuts because there wasn't enough mounting surface contact.
At $18 (plus whatever shipping is) this is a fantastic bargain.
