Subject: Pulling motor IP: Logged
Message: I am going to pull the motor out of my 92 4x4 as the clutch appears to need changing and I also have a bad rattle from a rod bearing.
Does anyone have any pointers for a sequence of events, things to watch for, hidden nuts & bolts etc.
I don't have an engine hoist so will have to make a frame and hoist and move the truck rather than the hoist.

Message: Mozzer, there are a lot of bolts, and a couple of braces that the 2 wheel drive trucks don't have, also some of the bolts are different sizes, just a suggestion when you start putting it back together try to get all the brakets bolts started before you tighten any, trust me on this it will make getting it back together a little easier.
Good Luck

Message: Thanks for the advice, the reason I was not going to rent a hoist is cos it may take me a couple of weeks work with only the odd hour or so available to me between working and then building my house.

Message: So put the engine on a stand and return the rental hoist. Stands are not all that expensive.
