I have a 92 V6 with a clutch problem, it does not fully release even though the pedal does not hit the floor.

I've removed the slave cylinder and evrything appears to work OK (full travel of the pedal/master cylinder moves the slave piston about 1/3 way at a time).

I tried putting a spacer in the slave cylinder to extend the rod and made no difference at all. Still only partially releases the same amount.

Does this mean it is the actual clutch / arm or am I missing something with the hydraulics (I pushed the slave all the way in to expel any air and none came out).

PS The master cylinder is 6 months old.

Would that also explain why the end of the release arm for the slave rod to locate in seems offset from centre toward the drivers side?

I also have some engine trouble is it a reasonably simple job to pull the engine for doing the clutch install so I can check the rod bearings at hte same time?

Any info gratefully accepted.

Thanks

Mozzer, if you have a 4X4 it may be easier to pull the engine to check the clutch, and bearings. With mine I pulled the engine to rebuild the eng. then after I had run it for about 1 1/2 years I had to pull the trans to have it rebuilt and it really wasn't too bad of a job to remove the transfer case and trans, but I do have a compressor and air tools at home to work with, plus a few hydralic jacks. If you have tyhe right tools, or know somebody that does it sure makes things go faster, and easier.
You can still do it the old way, it will just take a little more time is all. Are you having any oil pressure problems? Or do you just want to check the bears?
Good Luck

Oil pressure looks a bit low on idle when warm, but my main concern is a rattling at light throttle over about 2000rpm. It pretty much goes away if I disconnect the plug lead to one cylinder which I think indicates that rod bearing being bad and it was low on oil when I got it. Noise isn't there when cold for a few minutes which I guess is the oil being thicker.
