I have a v-6 Dodge Dakota with 120,000 miles. How often do I need to replace the internal timing chain? In addition, is the engine ruined if the timimg chain brakes?

New chain and tensioner

Cloyes dobble true roller
FEL-TCS45952 timing cover set seal & gaskets
CLO-9-1103 summitracing.com

They also have the tensioner or you can get one
from the dealer USE IT

I just installed one with the new cam and checking
with the degree wheel they are right on the money
around $50

You need the tensioner because for some reason
when the blocks were machined the cam was .050
lower than the V8's

At 120,000 I would give some serious thought to
replace them
