what controls the shift light on these trucks? mine comes on somewhere close to 2000 rpms through all gears, but then when i am already in fifth, it still comes on.I am not really as familiar with these trucks as i am with my grand prix, but i think that there should be something telling it that im in fifth gear already.

it doesn't come on if you keep it floored! LOL anyway i think its controlled by the PCM and there must be a switch to the tranny also so it knows your in fifth gear. i've never had the one on my '00 come on in fifth. if we had v8s we wouldn't have to worry about it. for some reason DC never activated it for them.
