so i heard about this guy who with his auto tranny, would in neutral rev the engine up high to around 6k rpm then drop it in2 gear 4 a launch, now just the thought of this makes me cringe
wouldnt that just be horrid for it? or do i just think its worse than it actually is?
he got a great take off doin it, extreme acceleration, overall great launch, just seems like it would have done tons of damage
i saw the vid on youtube by the way, so is it just me or would that do some serious damage or at the very least, not be good for it?

i figured his engine wouldnt explode or anything like that, but over time(short time)i figured hed be out a lot of money
good thing i asked b4 i tried it, i wanna improve my launches

Get a 2400 stall speed converter that'll help out greatly with your launches.www.socaldakota.com has them listed. then re-gear your rear to 3.92's(if you don't have 3.92's stock)
then you'll be rockin'

ouch, 440bucks, looks nice but i cant afford thatr right now, any tuning i can do 2 get better launches? like tweak stuff?

This pictures are the result of whats called a "neutral drop" ... its what your friend is doing.

As you can see from the pics ..... your friend is going to end up with a blown transmission.

That's actually how many of the factory backed mopar big block auto tranny drag cars were launching back in the '60's. Of course, they had the inside line for all the transmissions they needed...

well ya, if u have the money and you dont care, then go for it, but just seems like a waste to me, all the work and money needed to fix that for a quicker launch...oh well

unless he blocked 1st gear it would not launch
in 2nd
