Message: Everyone wants more cheap low end power. Well Tom, if what your looking for is off-the-line get up and go, the best way to do that is by changing the rear gears out to a numerically higher ratio. Example: If your truck has 3:55's change them to 3:90's, etc. As for cheap, I don't know, all of the mods that I have done to my truck have cost me over $2000.00 and I have gotten a little bit of performance out of each one for an overall pretty quick truck. However, I still don't have any tire smoking bottom end power. I'm playing with the idea of gears myself but I don't know if I want to sacrifice the mpg's. Also, a rear gear change shouldn't affect your warranty.

Message: Yeah, I know what you mean. My truck doesn't really 'kick in' until I hit 2200 RPM or so. Once i get above that, it'll snap your head back if I'm really getting into it. But I'm slowly getting the powerband like I want it...

Message: Would a good intake and exhaust incease low end or just high end? How about a v8 Throddle body? Maybe 180 Tstat?

Message: A combination of things will give you better low end. I'm not sure what though. So far I've ported my TB, added Autolite plugs, done an Airaid intake, relocated the IAT and adjusted the TPS. I installed my Borg & Warner Cap/Rotor and JBA 9mm wires yesterday evening, but had to stop short with the Accel coil because the darned stock coil is mounted with stripped screws! So I'm relocating the new coil to the Airaid support arm, I just need to buy some bolts. :0)
As for low end, I've heard rumours that removing the clutch fan and putting on a electric one helps...

Message: Yeah, I did the electric fan and power pulley thing, and it did add a little bit more on the bottom end, but it still wasn't all that exciting. The main thing I liked about that combo was the amount of space it added in my engine bay, and the mpg increas was almost 3mpg! So far the best bottom end mods I have done were porting my TB, and installing a good old fashioned round chrome air cleaner with K&N filter. Best kick in the pants for the bucks.

Message: I noticed a huge improvement in low end with the TB upgrade. Before that, it took forever to get there.

Message: I followed the TPS adjustment instructions. It was probably better for low end than the V8 TB conversion, but thats just my truck and it was at .43 volts stock.
