 Subject: 2.5" or 3 " pipes

Finally decided to go with a carsound cat and a flowmaster 4o delta flow muffler I just need to decide on 3 inch or 2.5 inch pipes I have gone through most of the forums and I found conflicting reviews some say 3 is too big ? If anyone has experience with this combination on a 95 V6 please give some advice thanks!!

I think most people will agree that a V6 should have 2.5" pipes.
A 3" system will not "flow" the air out in a timely and systematic fashion. Too much open space in there and a V6 wont produce enough flow to move it all out. Some hot air will linger in there and cause problems, such as blown gaskets and premature wear on your muffler, headers, and whatever else you got.
I have a 2.5" system and that is my recommendation.

Well.......I'm running a single 3 inch (from the collectors back) on my 97, and I love it. No probs with gaskets etc, but it does increase the sound. Most people assume I have a V8 when they hear it. Performance is great, and it increased my mpg by about 1.5. I don't know if this helps or not, but there it is. Also running a high flow cat, and a Magnaflow 18" muffler.

I have a 92, it came stock with 3" pipe to the muffler, so it can't be too big. I have 3" off the Y pipe to a 3" flowmaster to 3" tail pipe.
