Subject: Cant go past 3k RPM IP: Logged
Message: I have a 2002 dodge dakota 3.9 5speed 4x4. For some reason it will not go past 3k rpm. Sometimes it won't go past 2.3k rpms. That is in all gears. I just changed the oil, the truck has 98k miles on it.
I changed the spark plugs, distributor cap and wires about 50k miles ago. That may be the problem; I have never changed the fuel injectors. Any ideas?

Message: Only P0113 I think that's the IAT sensor. But that shouldnt cause the rpm stall.

Message: Bogging down. Studdering sometimes. Mostly it just stalls at 3k rpms then drops lower and lower to around 2.3k rpms unless I shift. I have to shift at 3k rpms or I go slower.

Message: that bad IAT may do that. it could cause an overrich condition. pull the plugs and take a look at them and see what color the insulators are. if they're black and full of soot i'd change that IAT and also with the cap, rotor, wires and plugs at 50k, you may want to change those too.

Message: this is from a '01 Factory Manual:
OPERATION
The IAT sensor provides an input voltage to the
Powertrain Control Module (PCM) indicating the
density of the air entering the intake manifold based
upon intake manifold temperature. At key-on, a
5–volt power circuit is supplied to the sensor from
the PCM. The sensor is grounded at the PCM
through a low-noise, sensor-return circuit.
The PCM uses this input to calculate the following:
† Injector pulse-width
† Adjustment of spark timing (to help prevent
spark knock with high intake manifold air-charge
temperatures)
The resistance values of the IAT sensor is the same
as for the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor.

Message: The IAT has had a poor connection for about a year when I moved it. It's not bad, just the wires run a little hot. I do think I need to do a basic tune-up. I'll go and change the cap, plugs and wires this weekend and try to tape up the IAT some more.
I also looked in the intake last night and found oil spattered in it. That is a bad sign.
