Subject: Sanden Ac Clutch Kit? IP: Logged
Message: Do they make a clutch repair kit for the Sanden ac compressor? Ive looked around at various autoparts stores and all they say they can get is the Compressor itself for 275$new. The bearing in there is getting louder than heck.

Message: Theres no clutch kit available for the U4788. What would stop me from pulling the pulley and replacing the bearing? Which is the culprit im sure.

Message: Hi Tyler
I have exactly the same compressor Sanden u4788 and the same problem.
Did you remove the bearing and found a new one.
So, if you can, tell me the end of your experimentation and the bearing number in the case you changed it.
Thanks
Paul

Message: If you can figure out what size the bearing is, try www.bearingsdirect.com. That's where I ended up getting the bearings for my alternator.
You might also want to try http://www.sanden.com/, It might be worth dropping them a call or an email to see if they can tell you what size they are - they're in Wyle Texas. I used to live in that area and people are nice down there. They'll probably be helpful.

Message: I have a 2000 Durango with a 4788 Sanden compressor. It was
fairly easy to remove the clutch and bearing. No special tools other
than a pneumatic wrench and a wheel puller. I used my mill and a
boring tool to remove the stakes that kept the bearing in the
pulley, but I am sure there are other ways to do that too.
The bearing itself measures 20 mm thick, OD= 55m, ID= 35mm.
Try googling 35BG05S10G-2DS
