Subject: Water Pump Went Out 85k IP: Logged
Message: My water pump went out I believe and im only at 85k. Whats the deal never heard of it happening on a vehicle with under 100k? How much can I expect to pay to get this fixed?

Message: It happens. I replaced mine before failure around 60,000 - when the bearings got noisy. Cost me around $50 at the parts store; add in shop markup, antifreeze and around an hour shop labor rate if you can't do it yourself. (And a shop can give you a more accurate estimate, we can't set someone else's pricing).

Message: That's why I like to do as much of my own work as possible. I didn't consider it too cold to replace mine earlier this winter, further north in MA. I do have an open front shed to keep the wind down though. Much depends on your tolerance for having your wallet emptied. Not aware of any brands to stay away from; the one I chose came with a lifetime warranty.

$700 to replace pump and clutch!? Da*n that sounds like a bit much. Is there something special about a 99? I once had a Ford Probe that had the WP buried and required taking the front off of the motor and locking the cam in place plus the pump was over 1C alone. Still didn't cost near that much.

Message: Replaced her myself in about 2 Hrs. 66$ New plus about 8 bucks for a six pack of beer. Thought I was gonna have to rent the tool but just put her in the vice and popped the fan off there. After calling my certified buddy.
Thanks for the help tho guys.
