Subject: NO HEAT??? IP: Logged
Message: My 88 dakota has virtually no heat. I flushed the heater core this morning, a little junk came out but not much. It has good flow coming through the core. The temp gauge seems to go over more than it should....runs about 7/8ths the way over after run for awhile. You reckon the thermostat is stuck shut??? Wouldn't I still get heat in the cab?? Let me know your thoughts...

Message: Well I found the problem, part of it anyway. Took the therm housing off and there was no thermostat in it...just an empty hole so I put in a new 195 and now getting nice heat to the cab. But....but....but...
Now the temp gauge is going was past H??? Guess now I'll put in a new coolant sensor? Before when it had no thermostat the gauge read about 3/4s the way over....

Message: Problem fixed....it was the coolant temp switch. Nice little item to change too...good grief! Wouldn't be TOO bad if the ac hoses were off but I didn't really want to lose all the freon. Oh well its done and all is working as it should.
