been noticing lately sometimes when braking the pedal feels hard and stopping requires a little bit harder pressing of pedal. It's worse when it's wet out or if weight in back of truck. I replaced the calipers about a year ago cause they were locking up but i replaced with carquest calipers and wondering now if these things are starting to lock up to. The truck rolls when taking foot of pedal so i don't think they are sticking. Would air in lines do this?

Message: i checked vacuum lines today. from what i can see there appears to be no leaks anywhere or cracks. when i got to work i pulled the vacuum line off the booster and all the air released. did this air come out of the line or the booster? i put the line back on and when i drove home after work the pedal felt much better and much better braking. why did this help out?

Message: sport02, sounds like the brake booster is going bad or something like that, cause when you removed the hose, the vacuum had to come from the booster, it is supposed to hold vacuum even after the engine is shut off. My opinion is the booster is messing up, but I don't know why it made things better after you drained the vacuum, cause after you restart the engine it should rebuild the vacuum in the booster tank. A hard pedal can be caused be a few different things, but a malfuntioning booster sounds most likely by what you have said.
Good Luck

Message: besides the booster there is also a check valve
right at the connection to the booster
Worst case could be antilock system
calipers if locking you would feel a lose of power
I have had car quest calipers on the front
of my 95 3 years now no probs
They claim 2 hits of the brake after engine is off
than vac is gone

Message: Larry, where is this check valve? do you mean the little knob that actually plugs into the booster? does that have a valve in it? or are you talking about the check valve that all the lines plug in to?

Message: there should be a check valve in that vacuum hose that goes to the booster. nothing to do with the brake lines.
