Subject: fuel psi?
IP: Logged

Message:
I am experiencing a lean hesitation with my 92 3.9 dakota. I already swapped in some ford 19# injectors I had laying around. It seemed to help a little, but I am wondering if my psi is low. What is stock fuel psi?

According to my Haynes repair manual for my 1998 Dakota, with V-6, the fuel pressure should be above 30 PSI.

The manual also states that if you turn the key off and the PSI drops below 30 then you have either a bad injector or injectors.

Hope this helps you.

I was basing the 30 PSI off of what my Haynes manual stated. Turn the key on, run the truck and then shut off. If the fuel pressure dropped below 30 PSI then you know you have a problem. Atleast we know the fuel pressure is above 30.

I got a haynes manual and you guys are correct, it says 31psi and 39 w/o vac. So, I checked it and I have 65psi and 69 w/o vac!!!
Is this common, or do I have a problem? I am pretty sure the pump and regulator are oem type if not origional. The truck was just a filthy work truck when I got it.

45 to 50 is normal on these trucks and it should
hold the presure for a few hours.

Could be your O2 sensor or bad plugs, I had a
hessitation in my 3rd new Dak after I changed the
plugs it was gone

Fuel Regulator

Message:
I have a 93 Dodge Dakota V6. I have been told my fuel regulator is bad. Bad enough the part is high priced, but it is unavailable. My fuel pressure at idle exceeds 80 pounds. Help please in either finding an after market product or new or used.

Much appreciated.

My mechanic put a frame mount fuel pump on my 2004 dakota (3.9 liter) since my pump went out just after I filled it up. (At the gas station, it wouldn't start: I swore it was bad gas, but it was the pump). So, here is the problem...he installed the pump, ran a hose to a tee, hose from tee to stainless braided hose going to engine, and a hose from the tee to a snap on brand regulator, then return to the tank. He says the regulator needs to be at 80 psi.
Fuel lines are splitting. I will replace the hose before I trash the whole thing and do it right with an intank pump, but, is this set up okay if I get some SAE30R9 hi pressure hose? Is 80 psi too high? Should I fire my mechanic of 22 years?
I went to advance, bought the only hose they sell, replaced hoses & they split after 2 weeks.

I have a 1998 Dakota with a 3.9 v6 4wd manual. My fuel
pressure is below 10psi. What does this mean and how do I fix
it? I have a brand new fuel pump so I’m pretty sure that
wouldn’t be the issue.
