I have a 1999 dodge Dakota and I am looking for some fog lights. I have found a pair I like http://stores.channeladvisor.com/kayee2501/Items/FG-DAKT-0104-HALO?sck=14484402

They say they are for the 01-04 but what is the difference between those years and the 99's.

My truck never came with fog lights.

If it's the wiring cant I just wire them to a separate switch?

If it is the size cant I just make my fog light opening bigger or smaller if need be?

Or does it have to do with the mounting?

I've been looking at a lot of lighting lately looking for headlights but came across a lot of fog lights. I think the difference is the mounting.

did you look at the picture oem set on ebay?

Thanks for the reply Dan.

I kinda wanted a black set of some sort, not amber that dosen't go with my motif.

I've never seen fog lights in black. I was just using the amber as an example. Notice how they mount vs the ones you found.

Wal-mart!
Phantom SUV 55watt halogen.
You have to make your own mounting bracket though.
The good news is that they are around 50$ or so.

Good luck.

I am totally down for making my own bracket. I am really just asking what the heck the difference is when they list 01-04 vs. 97-00.

But Thanks and I will check out the old wally world they frigging have everything anyways why wouldn't they have fog lights for a Dakota?

If your putting lights in the factory cut outs be aware that it is pretty low and the likelyhood of them breaking is high. I am also in the same boat, my kota didn't come with factory lights and I put some aftermarket ones in and I ended up shearing one of the brackets off when I was out playing around on a fairly well maintained road.
I've been thinking about mounting some rectangular driving/fog lights just above the license plate where there is more protection. I've already got the wiring down there ran off a seperate switch mounted on the left hand side of my dash.

I cut the hole slightly small so the fog lights only fit through the front, then I just attached L shape brackets to the back of the fog light so it could not slide through the front. No brackets necessary I just simply made sure they would not go through or come out of the hole.

I did have to remove the bumper, but that wasn't hard at all.
