Subject: 4x4 Light on '98 Dakota
IP: Logged

Message:
I just bought a used 1998 Dakota and I noticed that whenever I put the truck in 4 wheel drive, there is not light indicating it is on, but it definitely in 4 wheel drive cause I can feel it when I drive. I was wondering if anyone had any idea about this, there is no light in the dash or on bear the bezel. I also contacted the original owner and he said that he noticed the same thing. Just wondering if anyone has heard of anything like this and/or why?

Check the owners manual, it should show where the light should be,it could be just a light burned out, or a electrocal connector disconnected on the front drive axle.

I have checked the manual and it said that it is near the bezel and my truck is manual so the shifter is there. I even took the bezel out around it and there is not wires indicating a light. Nowhere in the manual does it say that the light would be in the dash and there is not place for the light to be there. I was just wondering. Thank you though.
