Message: How are you liking the super tech oil daddio? I switched back to it in my dakota from m1 some time ago. It was a cost issue for me mainly.
I'm getting oil and premium filter for less than cost of name brand oil.
I also am getting better fuel economy at low speeds.
Let me explain. I do a lot of trout fishing in the north GA mountains. Most trout streams require at least 45 min drive in and 45 minute drive out on dirt/gravel/bumpy roads. I'm driving at speeds < 20 mph and in some stretches < 15 mph.
Since running supertech oil and either pure one or k&n filter, I get no worse than 15 mpg.
When i ran mobil 1 i would get as low as 14.2 mpg.
Oh yeah, i got to use my new fiskars axe last weekend, one road i took to go to a spot i haven't been to in a while had a 50-60 foot long pine tree that was 5-6" in diamater fall across it. man that axe is sharp from the factory! unbreakable handle was comfortable and the whole axe is light weight.

Message: Hey,gang if you budgets tight go with your favorite brand of oil in regular and use less 1 qt. and use 1 qt. full synthetic get same benifits as using synthetic blend and if you change your oil regulary very seldom have sludge built up unless you using a 160' thermostat learn from my cousin that automotive engine design team for DCX and be sure to keep that PCV valve changed and port cleaned will minimize sludge to in these engines. And Dan good news just watch where you park your truck when cutting with your new toy might end up with a tree on your truck LOL.....

Message: Thanks for the kind words pete!
I need to always remember to set the parking brake too so the truck doesn't always end up hitting a tree! I called my local 5 star dealer, they have not received the recall information yet. They looked up my VIN and didn't find any incomplete. They told me to call back in january.
keep me posted on your findings daddio, i'd be interested. Also, what kind of truck do you have?
what is the size of the filtration of the mopar filters?

Message: well i said f@ck it and did it, i grabed some supertech full synthetic and a mopar filter. i dont expect any changes right now being the first time with synthetic and the cold isnt helping. but it does start pretty easily now, no obvious drag like usual when its 20 degrees outside. we'll see here by the next change, anyone else?
