Subject: Port, Polish, Port and Polish IP: Logged
Message: Ok, I was looking at this site that claimed Porting and Polishing was a pretty simple ordeal, anyone who can operate air tools should be able to do it. Is this true? I should be able to pull my heads and port and polish them, with no prior experience? Just to make sure I have the correct idea, porting is to enlarge or reshape and polishing is to smooth, right? So, would that make polishing safer? On avg, how much would it cost to get a 98 3.9 ported and polished?
Sorta off-topic, but would that be the best time to install Viper rockers?

Message: The crower 1.7's need to be adjusted corectly
There are 2 kits
1 5500rpm
2 rev kit with guide plates
harland sharp 1.7's bolt in with no mods to
baffle in valve cover and no adjusting the
rockers can be installed anytime once the covers
are off the heads must be on motor and oush rods
in
Carfull on the porting the V6 low end drops very
fast
The best thing here unless you plan on a forced
induction is just a good clean up of a few bumps
and casting leavings in the bowls and than just
polish removing as little as posible
Anyone with steady hands can do this just do not
hit the valve seats summitracing.com sells a
port kit with diff stones and sanding drumbs
for around $40 and can be done with a reg elect
3/8 drill most 3/8 drills turn around 1000rpm
gaskit match intake the heads are not bad and
same on the exhaust side
