Message: stick w/ 10w30 or 5w30 depending on your engine that oil is for those rice burners across the waters.I don't want to start a debate but can't help myself to many out for gas mileage its not going to help. Just will have better flow properties when cold from my thoughts, leave it on the store shelf move on freind you know better than most. This post will probaly be like the store shelfs many oils and thoughts to choose from ...

Message: straight 30w? that sounds like what i run in my snow thrower, lawn mower and stuff like that.i myself in the summer like to run thicker like 20-50 or 10-40 but in these newer trucks/cars i know they have the tolereces alot closer so i try to stick with what they say 10-30 in summer 5-30 in the winter.just my 2 cents on it.

Message: searay245se, there is such a thing as 0w-30 not just straight 30w. I wouldn't use that in a used engine, but it would be fine in a new engine. One thing to consider though, the 5W30 is also most like water, I can only imagine what the 0W30 is like.
Good Luck

Message: Most oil manufacturers will tell you to follow the recommendations in your owner's manual when it comes to deciding what viscosity to use.

Message: Don't use the 5W-20 they're recommending in new Dakotas now. Lower viscosity oil results in better MPG and so the manufacturers use it so they can pass the CAFE tests and avoid fines from the US government for poor MPG in fleet vehicles. Using 5W-20 in that exact same Dakota in the UK will void your warranty. Never use less than 30.
