Message: Tyler, it really depends one the indavidual, it can help get slightly better fuel mileage, as well as more power/torque. With other changes, it would really help in the power department. Like you pointed out though, the cost can get pretty high fast.
Good LUck

Message: I have had the JBAs on my truck for 5 years now. There is NO increase in mileage or preformance. And I'd had them both off twice to weld cracks. Now there leaking yet again so I'm taking them off and puting the stock manifolds back on.
Big waste of money IMO.

Message: See, I haven't put headers on my Dakota, but I have used headers on, a 64 Chevy 283, a 67 Dodge Charger 383, and a 70 Dodge pick up 318, and I did get better fuel mileage from headers every time I used them. Those were stock applications, but where the headers really come into play is when you start adding high performance parts, like a cam, intake, ect. On my Charger, I wound up rebuilding the engine, and added 12 to 1 compression pistons, (that was when you could get real high octane gas) and a high lift cam and after that I can say, fuel mileage did go out the door, so to speak. Sure made it a lot more fun to drive though.
Good Luck to everyone,

Message: I have Gibson headers on my 99 Dak.
Have had them on for a year now no problems.
Before I put them on I had them sent off to Jet Hot coatings and had them coat them inside and out with there ceramic I believe is what its called I d have to look it up I cant remember. Any ways it made them look nice and chrome, The truck sounds a lot healthier. It feels a little faster, but all i have is a Butt dyno so cant go on that.
I am happy with them and I would do it all over again if I had too.
You just have to check on the header bolts every 6 months or less to make sure they stay nice and tight.
Good luck and maybe you just got a bunk set of headers Tim G sorry for your luck. Did you at least like the sound of them better than stock manifolds?

Message: Headers got there reputation during the less efficient carberated engines.Things do improve as time goes on. Still. There is a good market for them provided you entertain enough mods.
