Message: Check and/or clean all ground ( chassis ) connections.
A main one for the computer is to a bracket
at the back of the alternator.
Check and clean battery connections if you have not already.

Message: Checked all my grounds no problems. Test drove and after about 15 minutes the code would come on again. Wondering if it's related to the chip I put in. Shouldn't be because I drove 400 miles without the code showing. Took the chip off and reinstalled, code cleared. I haven't test driven it yet for over 15 minutes to see if it still throws the code. I'd hate to have to remove the chip, gotta be something else.

Message: Put about 500 miles on the truck after reinstalling the chip. Maybe my scanner wouldn't clear the code with the new chip and it only cleared after removing it and reinstalling it. Anyway it hasn't thrown the 27 code. Strange, maybe it just burped and then the code wouldn't clear.

Message: Thanks Larry, showing my lack of knowledge. I bought and have in my truck 19fms from Bruce. I guess what confused me was usually the code was for #6 injector but once it said #5 and then #2 so I thought it was something other than the injector itself. Right now all is well and no codes.

Message: if you have any more problems, check the splice for the injectors. I believe its a green and yellow wires. the splice is in the wire harness that runs along the fire wall, one behind each cylinder head, along the fire wall.

Message: Put 600 miles on the truck and no code. Drove to work and on the way home while stopped at a light the truck sort of shuddered and the check engine light came on. This time it was number 1 ejector not receiving the proper signal when I scanned it. What I don't understand is why my scanner won't clear the code, since the engine seems to be running smoothly. It says clear rejected. So I guess the problem still exists. It seems I have a short somewhere since it keeps changing on which ejector is the problem. I can't believe it's the injectors, they aren't that old. As much as I hate to do it I will start tracing wires after removing all the tape. Unless Larry or someone has a better idea of what the problem is.

Message: I found that my scanner will not clear the codes with the truck running. It will only clear when the ignition is on but the engine is not running. In my earlier post I mentioned green/yellow wire, actually I think its green with orange stripe. The green/orange wire is common to all of the injectors, its the power source. It also feeds the coil. there are two splice points that run along the fire wall. You might also check the connection at the pcm.

Message: Haven't found the problem but I didn't try very hard. Haven't started cutting tape and tracing wires yet. The only way I could clear the code was by disconnecting the computer. Then again I had the motor on, I'll try with the ignition on and motor off, next time. Since it throws the code once in 500 miles I figure I have time to wait and mess with it in warmer weather.

Message: ElmerFudd,
Just to let you know I had a similar problem with the Jet chip on a 92 v8 dakota 4x4. I ended using nylon tie wraps around the pcm and connectors to keep everything tight. The jet chip theway it mounts on the 92 to 95 is problematic in my view due to the size of the wiring connector. That's why I decided to use the tie wraps.

Message: Yeah, I noticed that and thought maybe the chip was coming loose. I used duck tape more as a sealer from water but will try the tie wraps. Thanks.
