Hi guys, maybe you can help me out. My 88 Dakota starts fine when cold, however, after about 15 mins of running, the truck stalls. When I try to turn it on again, it doesn't even spark. However, if I wait for an hour to let the truck cool down again, it will start again. What could be the issue here? Thanks.

Mabye a faulty coil? I dont know if dodge used ignition modules that year, but I had a ranger that would shutdown when it got up to temp. Id let it set and it would start up. It turned out the ign module was going bad.

wontstart, I agree with shadetree, it could be a coil, or it could be a problem with the computer, I have an 88 as well, but I've never had any problems like yours. Have you tried to get any codes from the computer when it stops running? Just turn the key on and off 3 times and leave it on the 3rd time and the check engine light will blink out codes. say it might give a code 33 it will blink 3 times then pause and 3 more times, then a slightly longer pause then another, or a 55, the 55 means its given all the codes stored in the computer.oh yeah when trying to get the codes, don't try to start, just to the run position then off.
Good Luck
