Subject: Hard starting truck after/during rain IP: Logged
Message: My 99 Dakota V6 3.9 with 160,000 miles is difficult to start after/during rain events. Once started it sputters unless I stay on the accelerator. After a minute it is fine and able to idle on it's own.
I have replaced the distributor cap, rotor, wires, and plugs but problem remains.
Any thoughts?
Thanks

Message: check your coil for a carbon track between the center post and a side post.

Message: just get an empty spray bottle fill it with water
and start testing by spraying
A bad connection will also show up when there
is a lot of mosture in the air
you can also pull the suspected plug heads apart
and visualy inspect for carosion
radio shack a can of spray contact cleaner than
blow dry with air or let dry 20min than
auto zone dyelectric grease fill heads and plug
back togather this will seal them from water
