Subject: cooling system over pressure? IP: Logged
Message: I just bought this 2003 dodge dakota quad cab 6cyl. And when i got home noticed the antifreeze pressure cap popped and coolant coming out. I thought that the cap just wasn't secured and popped with pressure. Anyway i had a flush and fill done on the system and noticed today that when i got home the antifreeze now squirted out of the overfill container vent tube, is that normal? No gauges are coming on and the temp. gauges is normal. Thanks

Message: Simple first step. Spend ten-ish dollars for a new cap. They run at 18-21 pounds of pressure. If your cap can't hold that pressure it'll do what you are experiencing. If it fixes the problem - you have a cheap solution. If it doesn't - you haven't wasted any cash.
