Subject: cooling system over pressure?
IP: Logged

Message:
I just bought this 2003 dodge dakota quad cab 6cyl. And when i got home noticed the antifreeze pressure cap popped and coolant coming out. I thought that the cap just wasn't secured and popped with pressure. Anyway i had a flush and fill done on the system and noticed today that when i got home the antifreeze now squirted out of the overfill container vent tube, is that normal? No gauges are coming on and the temp. gauges is normal. Thanks

Simple first step. Spend ten-ish dollars for a new cap. They run at 18-21 pounds of pressure. If your cap can't hold that pressure it'll do what you are experiencing. If it fixes the problem - you have a cheap solution. If it doesn't - you haven't wasted any cash.

What's your left foot doing?
