Subject: TPS Mod IP: Logged
Message: I checked the voltage on my TPS yesterday and it was at .65. I believe I will goto True Value and get the proper size bolts and washers and adjust the voltage closer to .75 as called for by the v8 performance board.
Heck while im at it im going to relocate the IAT sensor to the intake tube of the air hat.
Ill get the mods out of the way today.
I even checked the plugs yesterday and they are all burning a tannish white. Thats good news to me.
WD40 did you find your keys or use a hammer. HA!

Message: i'd leave the tps alone, you're close enough! though some may disagree! won't make that much of a difference.

Message: Hey Trev, Found my Key, need to have another one made, I'm too scatterbrained to have one of anything, I also need to buy duplicate tools as I can never find them either HA!. I saw the posts on the CPS mods., that advanced timing slightly. What is the TPS mod.? I take it that whatever it is , it increases the voltage from the throttle position sensor to the computer. What does that do to make truck run better?
Sorry to be lazy I could hunt for it but I need to check in anyway to get my daily inspiration to work, Ha! Thanks, Toby

Message: I went ahead and did the mod. I set the voltage at .72 and it maded a difference. V8 performance.com tips says from .70 to .75 is ok. If im wrong then I can always reset it lower

Message: are you sure it isn't mind over matter? TPS alone isn't known to make that much of a noticeable difference. Listen man, i'm not trying to be an A$$ but if you don't know about the math behind this stuff i wouldn't mess to much with electrical. just my opinion.

Message: I couldn't answer for sure. But the off the line acceleration is crisper. If I had to guess it increases the air fuel ratio and that produces more torque and HP sooner for better acceleration.
Thanks for all the help and info guys. It is very much appreciated!

Message: .75 is optimal setting
what happens is the computer sees a higher voltage
and steps up to a little better timing and fuel
map
most trucks that have the low end off idle bog
you will see the tps volts are low a little more
timing and fuel just off idle will solve the bog
problem
Also the higher the volts the faster the trans
reaction time on down shifting and less throttle
to raise the o/d and lockup shifts when
excellerating
Voltage
92 to 95 obd1 can take upto 1 to 1.25 volts
96 and up .88 max or it will cause idle problems
Also check that you have a full 3 volt change
from idle to WOT (wide open throttle)
.75 idle
WOT 3.75
.7 idle
3.7 WOT
also remember every time you change the volts you
will need to start and stop the truck 3 times to
relearn idle
The faster the comp sees 1 plus volts it begains
to react ever notice how some trucks do hardly
nothing untill you get to 1/4 1/2 throttle low
tps is what causes this I have seen them as low
as .3 bad off idle low end response move this to
.7 and its like night and day bog is gone and
yes you should notice better throttle response
right away
